Billing & Collection Officer

• Pay: £18.65 PAYE / £24.65 Umbrella
• Contract: Temporary until December 2026
• Location: Wembley, HA9 0FJ

We are looking for a Billing & Collection Officer to join a busy Customer Engagement and Proactive Support Team. You will help manage Council Tax billing and recovery, support residents with their accounts, and work to reduce arrears through early intervention and customer engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Contact residents by phone, email and SMS regarding missed payments.
• Set up affordable payment arrangements and promote Direct Debit sign-ups.
• Manage Council Tax accounts, billing amendments, discounts and exemptions.
• Handle customer enquiries, complaints and service requests.
• Identify vulnerable residents and refer them to appropriate support services.
• Monitor arrears and progress accounts through the recovery process.
• Maintain accurate records and update internal systems.
• Work closely with Housing Services and other stakeholders to ensure accurate billing.

About You

• Experience in billing, collections, debt recovery or customer service.
• Good understanding of Council Tax and debt recovery processes.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Able to handle difficult conversations professionally and sensitively.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage a busy workload.
• Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
