Head of Coordination & Design

  • Lead the design and technical coordination function across multiple projects
  • Manage and coordinate architects, engineers, MEP consultants and specialist designers
  • Ensure architectural, structural, MEP and subcontractor designs are fully coordinated
  • Lead design reviews and resolve technical, interface and buildability issues
  • Ensure designs comply with UK Building Regulations, relevant legislation and technical standards
  • Monitor design programmes, information release schedules and consultant performance
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions
  • Identify and manage design and construction risk
  • Support value engineering while maintaining quality, compliance and functionality
  • Work closely with commercial, operational and construction teams
  • Chair design coordination meetings and ensure actions are completed
  • Develop and maintain design standards, procedures and quality assurance processes
  • Provide senior technical advice and support across the business
  • Lead, mentor and develop the design and coordination team.
  • MCIAT or FCIAT - Chartered Architectural Technologist with CIAT
  • ARB Registered Architect
  • MCIOB or FCIOB - Chartered Institute of Building
  • MRICS or FRICS - Chartered Building Surveyor
  • Significant senior-level design, technical or construction experience.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations and construction legislation.
  • Experience managing design from pre-construction through to completion.
  • Strong understanding of buildability, technical detailing and design risk.
  • Experience coordinating architectural, structural, MEP and specialist design.
  • Strong consultant and stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to review and challenge technical information and resolve complex design issues.
  • Strong leadership, commercial awareness and communication skills.
  • Design & Build experience.
  • Building Safety Act knowledge.
  • BIM/Revit/Navisworks experience.
  • Major residential, commercial or mixed-use project experience.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
