Construction manager wanted: Stockwell, South London Ryan Notz, former artist and experienced entrepreneur known for having founded MyBuilder .com, has recently acquired a historic 15,000 sq ft Victorian industrial complex in Stockwell, London. This iconic space will be transformed into a vibrant arts and crafts community, housing artist studios, a woodworking shop, framing workshop, music studios, and an artisanal bakery / café. We are looking for an experienced construction manager to help us undertake this extensive commercial renovation project, which we expect to last for 12 - 18 months. Job Description This is not your typical site manager role. The activities will be the same, but you will be working as a part of the founding team with the owner on site every day. Communication and decision making will be streamlined and effortless. No BS, no red tape, stakeholder management or tedious meetings - just working in a small team, focused on a single project with a single decision maker and having fun while doing it. Hackford Road is a great location, close to Stockwell tube station and the Oval. Brixton is not too far of a walk for lunch. You will be responsible for the usual construction manager activities: - Phasing and coordinating all the work for the overall project- - Recruiting and managing tradesmen and small contracting firms - Balancing the tradeoffs between quality, speed and price - Sourcing materials - Purchasing and hiring construction equipment - Interacting with architects and engineers - Working closely on a daily basis with the owner - Relentlessly driving efficiencies across the project Experience and a sharp mind are key, as will be your contacts with sole traders and small contracting firms. As you know, the key is to get the right people involved from the start. We’ll be relying on you to help us find the best trades and to get the most out of them.
