Job Role: Major Projects Estimator - Construction

Job Location: North Tyneside - 5 days Onsite

Duration: 3 months contract.

Rate: GBP 500/Day

Major Projects Estimator

• Preparing detailed cost estimates, budgets, cost plans and commercial proposals for major highways and civil engineering projects
• Developing fully priced Bills of Quantities and/or activity schedules
• Supporting governance and approval processes, including commercial and risk inputs
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and data to produce accurate take-offs and cost models
• Engaging with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain pricing for labour, plant, materials and services
• Evaluating tender returns and comparing commercial submissions
• Supporting value engineering activity in collaboration with project and delivery teams
• Assisting with pricing of variations and compensation events in line with NEC contracts
• Managing workload effectively to meet bid and pre-construction deadlines
  
  Essential experience and skills
  * A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or similar
  * Proven experience working in an estimating or commercial role within construction or infrastructure
  * Strong understanding of:
  o Construction cost planning and estimating
  o Bills of Quantities, specifications and contract documentation
  o Typical construction contract terms and conditions
  o NEC forms of contract
  * Ability to build accurate estimates, budgets and commercial proposals
  * Strong numeracy, literacy and analytical skills
  * Good organisation and time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines
  * Confident communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders
  * A full UK driving licence
  
  Desirable experience
  * Highways or infrastructure project experience
  * Knowledge of CDM regulations and relevant legislation
  * Understanding of project management processes
  * Experience supporting pre construction and bidding activity
