Health & Safety Officer - Civil Engineering / Construction / Rail

We’re on the hunt for a dedicated Health & Safety Officer with a strong background in civil engineering, construction, or rail. If you’re passionate about ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and promoting a culture of safety, this could be the perfect opportunity for you to join the team of a leading Tier 1 supplier to Network Rail.
As part of the team, you’ll play a key role in driving safety standards across multiple sites, working closely with managers, employees, and senior leadership.
Your responsibilities as a H&S Officer will include:

Auditing and monitoring compliance, ensuring regulations and company policies are met

Conducting site inspections and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement.

Investigating incidents and accidents, providing detailed reports and recommendations.

Advising teams on health & safety best practices and regulatory requirements.

Assisting with toolbox talks, training sessions, and compliance briefing
-
Supporting employee wellbeing initiatives and promoting a positive safety culture

Overseeing subcontractor and equipment compliance, ensuring industry standards are upheld.
As a Health and Safety Officer you’ll need:

NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or equivalent experience).

Experience in a Health & Safety role within civil engineering, construction, or rail
-
Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills
-
Confidence in delivering presentations and engaging with teams at all levels
-
Experience in risk assessment development and implementation
-
Knowledge in a noise & vibration is a plus
-
A full UK driving licence (travel to multiple sites around the UK required).
