Project Director - Power Projects (Transmission & Distribution)

£100,000 - £120,000 + Car / Allowance + Bonus + Package
Working Pattern:
Hybrid (3 days site / office, 2 days home)
The Opportunity
A Tier 1 contractor is seeking a Project Director to lead the delivery of major power infrastructure projects across Scotland, supporting long-term frameworks with key transmission clients.
You will be working on large-scale grid reinforcement and upgrade schemes forming part of the UK's Net Zero strategy, delivering critical improvements to the transmission network.
Project Scope
Projects are focused on high-voltage transmission infrastructure, typically including:

400kV / 275kV / 132kV substations (new build and upgrades)

Overhead Line (OHL) construction and refurbishment

Underground cable (UGC) installations and grid connections
-
Integration of renewable energy into the transmission network
Typical schemes range from £100m to £1bn+, delivered through multi-year frameworks across Scotland.
Role Overview
As Project Director, you will act as the Accountable Lead for project delivery, responsible for:

Full lifecycle delivery: ECI → Design → Construction → Commissioning

Commercial performance, programme management, and risk

Leading multi-disciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, and operations

Managing client and stakeholder relationships within regulated environments
Key Responsibilities

Lead delivery of £100m+ power projects as No.1 on the scheme

Drive programme performance across design, procurement, and construction

Manage interfaces across substations, OHL, and cable packages

Oversee NEC contract delivery, including risk and cost control
-
Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, consultants, and supply chain

Ensure compliance with CDM, HSEQ, and transmission standards
Required Experience
-
Proven delivery of major infrastructure projects (£100m+)

Experience within one or more sectors: Power & Energy (preferred), Utilities, Rail, Highways, Aviation, Environmental / Flood Defence

Experience within a Tier 1 contractor or major project environment

Strong working knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts

Demonstrable leadership of large, multi-disciplinary teams
