Senior In-House Counsel - Immediate Start

4-6 months fixed term role

This is a rare opportunity to contribute at a senior level within a market-leading international CPG business. The successful candidate will be highly capable in the areas of IP, tech and data and will be supporting the business's brand and marketing teams. Our client is a well-known company with an established in-house legal team.

We are looking for an experienced (10-15 PQE) lawyer. Working for Ortolan Legal, but embedded (remotely) with our client's legal team, this is an opportunity to exercise your skills with a high quality and interesting workload. The assignment we need you for is likely to last for at least 4 months and we are looking for someone who is available to start work within the next couple of weeks.

This role will be well remunerated. Remote working is supported, so candidates can be based anywhere in the UK but will need to visit the client's offices (London and Scotland) from time to time.

To be successful you will need the following skills and attributes:

• You must be a qualified lawyer in the UK or another comparable jurisdiction. Lawyers with less than 10 years PQE are unlikely to have acquired the experience needed, but if you are exceptional, please convince us!
• Experience of the CPG sector is important as is experience of advising an international business.
• A strong technical legal background is a given and this is likely to have been gained initially with a leading practice. Subsequent in-house experience is essential.
• Your work will include providing your senior business colleagues with effective solutions to complex legal issues and helping them manage risk for the business. An informed understanding of the operational as well as legal issues involved in complex technology and marketing agreements is important as is a breadth of knowledge in the field of brand protection and management.
• You will also need to have a good understanding of and exposure to a wide range of commercial contracts and will work with and support the business across a broad spectrum of contracts.
• We would expect suitable candidates to have a good understanding of data protection and commercial data issues.
• As this is a senior position, you will be responsible for managing and leading other members of the legal team; we will be looking for demonstrable experience of your ability to do this well.
• Importantly, you will need to be a good fit; so as well as being charismatic and personable, you will also be highly motivated, client focused and will have a demonstrably commercial approach with plenty of initiative.

For this assignment you will be working alongside our client's established in-house legal team. You will also find yourself working closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
