Role Overview
We are working on behalf of our client who are seeking a proactive and hands-on Health & Safety Officer to support and drive safe working practices across their business and multiple client sites. This is a field-based, operational role requiring a “doer” mindset rather than a strategic manager.
The successful candidate will take ownership of day-to-day health and safety compliance, ensuring legal obligations are met while actively improving site safety standards through regular inspections, audits, and engagement with teams.
Frequent weekly travel to various sites is essential.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety Compliance
Prepare and maintain Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure safe working practices both internally and on customer sites
Ensure all activities comply with current health & safety legislation and best practice
Continuously assess company working practices and implement improvements where necessary
Site Inspections & Audits
Conduct regular site inspections and audits across multiple locations
Carry out weekly inspections at Leicester and Stone facilities and report on findings
Conduct inspections of installation sites on a weekly basis
Identify hazards, provide practical solutions, and follow up on corrective actions
Develop and maintain an inspection and audit schedule
Monitoring & Reporting
Produce clear and concise inspection and audit reports
Provide a monthly health & safety report to the Board outlining performance, risks, and improvements
Track and monitor safety KPIs and compliance progress
Continuous Improvement
Actively promote a positive safety culture across all sites
Identify opportunities to improve processes, training, and compliance systems
Stay up to date with relevant legislation and industry developments
Key Requirements
Essential
NEBOSH qualification (General Certificate or equivalent)
Proven experience in a hands-on Health & Safety role within engineering, manufacturing, construction, or similar environments
Willingness to travel extensively on a weekly basis
Strong working knowledge of UK health & safety legislation
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks
Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Confident communicator, able to engage with employees at all levels
Proactive and self-motivated
Able to manage multiple sites and priorities effectively
