Mechanical & Electrical Manager

Karter Thomas are proud to be working with a not for profit organsiation to help recruit for Mechanical & Electrical Manager into a key position within their Asset Investment team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced M&E professional to take ownership of compliance, safety programmes and major works delivery across a residential portfolio playing a critical role in ensuring building safety and protecting residents:

The Role

As Mechanical & Electrical Manager, you will lead on the development and delivery of M&E programmes aligned with a 5 year investment plan. You will manage contractors, oversee compliance, and ensure all works meet statutory and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering planned M&E works programmes and investment projects
  • Managing procurement, contracts, and contractor performance (JCT/NEC)
  • Ensuring full compliance with building safety and regulatory requirements
  • Overseeing servicing, inspections, and follow-up remedial works
  • Maintaining asset and compliance data, including property surveys
  • Managing M&E budgets and providing financial reporting
  • Supporting senior stakeholders with expert M&E advice
  • Producing reports for senior leadership and board-level discussions


You will also work closely across property, asset, and compliance teams to deliver a high-quality, resident-focused service.


Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering M&E programmes within residential or housing environments
  • Strong contract management and procurement experience
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Building Safety Act, Fire Safety regulations)
  • Experience managing major works budgets and delivering value for money
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
  • Desirable - Professional qualification in engineering (or working towards)


Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working – typically 1 day per week from home
  • Travel required across sites within the portfolio
  • Occasional evening or weekend work (as required)
