Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to expand our presence in the lighting design and specification market, specifically within the London region. This role will involve identifying new business opportunities, nurturing relationships with key stakeholders, and driving sales growth across the specification sector. You will be instrumental in establishing a leading provider of innovative lighting solutions within the architecture, design, and construction industries.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Sales Strategy Development: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales plan to drive business growth within the lighting design and specification industry, specifically in the London region.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with architects, interior designers, specifiers, and developers to ensure sustained business partnerships.
  • Business Development: Identify and engage with new business opportunities through networking, attending industry events, and proactive outreach to key market players.
  • Sales Cycle Management: Manage the complete sales cycle, from initial client contact to closing deals and providing post-sales support to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including designers and project managers, to deliver tailored lighting solutions that meet clients' specific needs.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to maintain a competitive edge and identify new opportunities for business expansion.
  • Product Promotion: Deliver engaging presentations and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions to promote product range, educate industry professionals, and strengthen brand awareness.
About You:
  • Experience: Proven track record in business development, sales, or account management within the lighting specification industry, ideally within the commercial, hospitality, or architectural sectors.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong knowledge of lighting design principles, products, and the technical aspects of lighting solutions.
  • Network: Established network of contacts within the architecture, interior design, and construction sectors, with the ability to influence key decision-makers.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a strong ability to build rapport and close deals effectively.
  • Motivated and Results-Oriented: Self-driven, highly motivated, and results-focused, with the ability to work independently while contributing to the success of a wider team.
  • Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with industry-standard lighting software and tools is a plus, as well as a keen interest in staying up to date with industry trends.
  • Location: Based in or around London with the ability to travel when necessary.
