Head of Built Environment

£46,803 – £53,919 + Market Supplement up to £5,781 | Permanent | 35 hours | Ipswich & Multi-Site

Casanovas Recruitment is working with a well-established education provider to appoint a Head of Built Environment.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced leader from the built environment, construction or technical education sector to take responsibility for a broad and growing area of provision.

You’ll lead a team and oversee programmes including T Levels, apprenticeships, Higher Technical Qualifications and degree-level pathways , with a real opportunity to develop the curriculum and strengthen links with industry.

The Role

Reporting into the senior leadership team, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing teaching and support teams
  • Driving quality, learner achievement and performance
  • Developing curriculum in line with industry and future skills needs
  • Building strong relationships with employers and industry partners
  • Supporting the growth of apprenticeships, higher-level and commercial provision
  • Using performance data to identify improvements and drive better outcomes
  • Coaching and developing staff through effective performance management
  • Representing the organisation at industry and employer events
  • Maintaining a small teaching commitment within your specialist area

About You

We’re looking for an experienced and credible leader who understands both education and the built environment .

You’ll ideally have experience leading teams within further education, higher education, apprenticeships, construction or a related technical education setting, together with a good understanding of teaching, learning and assessment.

Preferred/ essential:

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification
  • Level 5 teaching qualification or equivalent
  • Level 2 Maths and English or equivalent
  • Experience leading and developing teams
  • Experience within Built Environment, Construction or a related technical sector
  • Knowledge of T Levels, apprenticeships, higher technical or degree-level provision
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to use data to improve performance and outcomes

Desirable:

  • Leadership or management qualification
  • Assessor and/or IQA qualification
  • Professional membership such as RICS, CIOB, ICE or similar
  • Experience managing budgets or organisational change

Salary: £46,803 – £53,919 + market supplement of up to £5,781, depending on qualifications and experience
