Electrical Project Manager - Data Center Construction

Locations: Iowa

Compensation: $130,000 - $170,000 annually

Travel Rotation: Mandatory

Position Summary

An established electrical contractor is seeking experienced Electrical Project Managers to oversee the execution of complex mission critical & commercial construction projects. This is a site-based leadership role responsible for the complete lifecycle of construction projects from pre-construction through closeout with a focus on safety, budget, quality, and schedule.

Duties & Scope

• Develop and build strong project teams while delivering high-quality results, meeting customer expectations, managing scope, delivering on schedule, and staying within budget.
• Drive division profitability through effective project execution and financial oversight.
• Develop and lead project management technical and scheduling objectives, procurement activities, contractual requirements, personnel assignments, and capacity planning.
• Evaluate and continuously improve departmental systems and processes to meet customer requirements and profitability goals.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 3 direct reports and 10 total team members.
• Review overall contractual requirements for projects and apply appropriate process design methodologies as needed.
• Ensure project schedule requirements are met, adjusting priorities and milestones based on changing customer needs, resource availability, and job requirements.
• Engage with customers to ensure expectations are clearly understood and met before, during, and after project completion.
• Provide oversight and coordination for third-party construction firms.
• Manage the project review process with a strong focus on financial forecasting and performance.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality engineering, studies, and overall project execution.
• Proactively and consistently communicate challenges, risks, and successes to stakeholders.
• Oversee invoicing per project terms and negotiate appropriate change orders.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of project management experience in commercial or mixed-use electrical construction.
• Strong understanding of electrical power engineering principles.
• Field experience coordinating with construction management teams.
• Extensive knowledge of project scheduling, bids, take-offs, change orders, and contract administration.
• Proven ability to develop relationships and support business development efforts.
• Demonstrated success managing a profitable project portfolio.
• Exceptional initiative, execution, and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Strong analytical, motivational, and leadership capabilities.
• Electrical Engineering or Construction Management degree strongly preferred.
• Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus.
