About the Role:
The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable
Building Safety Manager
to oversee the safety and compliance of council-owned residential blocks. This role focuses on registering buildings and ensuring adherence to the latest building safety regulations. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in safeguarding residents and maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:

Building Registration:

Ensure all council-owned buildings meet the requirements for registration under current building safety legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2022.

Oversee the submission of building safety case reports to the Building Safety Regulator.

Regulatory Compliance:

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building safety regulations, fire safety standards, and relevant legislation.

Conduct risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.

Safety Management:

Develop and manage building safety strategies, including fire evacuation plans and regular safety drills.

Coordinate and oversee regular safety inspections, audits, and maintenance schedules.

Address safety concerns raised by residents, contractors, or council staff promptly and effectively.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as the primary point of contact for building safety matters, liaising with residents, contractors, council departments, and external regulators.

Provide clear communication on safety-related matters to all stakeholders.

Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive records of building safety inspections, compliance certifications, and incident reports.

Prepare and submit detailed safety reports to senior management and regulatory bodies as required.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Proven experience in building safety management, particularly in registering buildings with the Building Safety Regulator.

In-depth knowledge of the Building Safety Act 2022, fire safety regulations, and related compliance requirements.

Strong understanding of risk assessment processes and safety management systems.

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Qualifications:

Relevant certifications in building safety or fire safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent).

Experience working in a public sector or local government environment.
