Head of Pre-Construction – Commercial Lighting & Acoustics

Essex, Hertfordshire, North/East London | Full-time, office-based

Are you an experienced commercial lighting professional who knows how to turn complex enquiries into accurate, sales-ready quotations? We are recruiting a Head of Pre-Construction to join an ambitious, forward-thinking UK manufacturer of commercial lighting and acoustic products serving the fit-out industry.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can build and run a high-performing pre-construction function. You will own the workflow from incoming enquiry to a fully detailed, accurate quotation that the sales team can take straight to the customer.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead and develop the internal lighting and acoustics pre-construction team.
  • Own and improve the end-to-end enquiry, estimating and quotation process.
  • Work with account managers and customers to clarify project requirements and build robust briefs.
  • Coordinate lighting and acoustic designs, drawing take-offs and technical submissions.
  • Produce complete, accurate and commercially sound quotations at pace.
  • Oversee product data cleansing and support wider systems and process improvements.
  • Build and manage additional capability using remote offshore resources.
  • Support sales with technical queries and liaise with suppliers on bespoke products.
  • Process successful orders and ensure a smooth handover to operations.
What we’re looking for
  • Strong experience and technical knowledge within the commercial lighting industry; acoustics or M&E experience would also be valuable.
  • Hands-on experience of estimating, drawing take-offs, tendering and producing quotations.
  • A track record of leading an estimating, quotations or technical team.
  • Experience improving or building processes, systems or product data.
  • Excellent organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive, commercially minded approach and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Clear communication, sound judgement and confidence working across sales, operations, customers and suppliers.
  • Experience managing offshore or outsourced resources would be a strong advantage.
What’s on offer
  • Full-time, office-based role
  • Preferred working hours of 07:30–16:30.
  • Company bonus scheme.
