Our client is a large Building Services consultancybased in Edinburgh city centre. Their team of highly-qualified mechanical andelectrical engineers have many years of experience in all aspects of buildingservices engineering: from preliminary planning and construction management tosupplementary services upon completion. Their clients operate throughout a widevariety of sectors and projects. This is a great opportunity for a MechanicalDesign Engineer to join a well stablished practice that can offer you theaccess and support you need to aid your learning and development, whileoffering excellent career progression. The office has a relaxed, flexibleculture and regular social events take place. You will be expected to run yourown projects with the help of senior engineers, working through the RIBAstages.

Your new role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs.
• Design and specification of all mechanical Building Services systems.
• Carry out the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Hevacomp, IES, etc.
• Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
• Report and technical note writing.
• Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
• Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering or related subjects.
• At least 2 years of experience in mechanical Building Services projects.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and building codes.
• Experience working in a design consultancy and/or experience of working within a contractor design environment is essential.
• Have a detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
