About the Role:Hays Education are working with a Secondary School in Dover to recruit a dedicated and knowledgeable Construction Teacher for a long-term cover position.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher and construction professional who is passionate about developing the next generation of tradespeople. The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across the BTEC Construction curriculum, working closely with the department to ensure continuity of learning and positive outcomes for all students.
Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality lessons across the BTEC Construction curriculum.
• Plan, prepare, and assess work in line with curriculum requirements.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to support achievement.
• Maintain high expectations of behaviour, attendance, and engagement.
• Support students in developing both practical construction skills and industry knowledge.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a consistent learning experience.
• Contribute to the wider life of the department and school where appropriate.
• Ensure safeguarding and health and safety procedures are followed at all times.

Person Specification:

• Experience teaching Construction or delivering vocational construction qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of the BTEC Construction curriculum.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• QTS, QTLS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Previous experience in a secondary school or further education setting.
