Reed are partnered with a market leader in structural steel design, fabrication, painting, and erection across various sectors in the UK. The company has grown to become a significant player in the structural engineering industry. We are looking for a Chartered Structural Engineer to coordinate, design, and develop steel frames for industrial and commercial buildings from inception to completion.
Day-to-day of the role:

Design and develop structural steel frames, ensuring all designs meet regulatory standards and customer specifications.

Perform detailed structural analysis and calculations to ensure safety, stability, and integrity.

Review, certify, and optimize structural designs and provide technical solutions for complex challenges in steel construction.

Interface directly with clients to define project requirements, provide technical advice, and assist in the development of project proposals.

Lead value engineering initiatives to optimize project outcomes without compromising quality.

Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and design consultants to ensure design requirements are met and projects are completed on time and within budget.

Provide leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Chartered Structural Engineer (CEng MIStructE) or Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng MICE) with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.

Extensive experience in structural steel design for industrial and commercial buildings.

Proficiency with structural design software such as STAAD, Tekla, and familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or similar.

Strong experience in customer-facing roles and value engineering.

Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
