Accounts Assistant

£30,000 – £34,000 per annum

North Lanarkshire

08:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday (Full-Time, Office-Based)

Reed Accountancy is delighted to be partnering with a highly successful and well-established construction and maintenance business in North Lanarkshire to recruit an Accounts Assistant.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing SME where you will play a pivotal role in supporting the finance function.

Reporting to the Head of Accounts, you will take ownership of day-to-day transactional finance duties while also contributing to month-end processes, gaining valuable exposure within a dynamic environment.

The key responsibilities of the role will be:

  • Processing high volumes of purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Raising and issuing sales invoices to clients
  • Managing company expenses and ensuring correct allocation and credit card reconciliations
  • Performing supplier reconciliations and reviewing supplier statements
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations
  • Assisting in the organisation and execution of payment runs
  • Supporting the Head of Accounts with month-end activities
  • Maintaining accurate financial records using Xero software

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a transactional accounts role (e.g. Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Purchase Ledger)
  • Working knowledge of accounting software packages
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • A proactive, hard-working approach with the ability to manage workload effectively
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
