A genuinely exciting opportunity to join an ambitious, project-led SME at an important stage of its development.

This is not a high-level FD role where the finance function is already built . The successful candidate will be expected to roll their sleeves up and build much of the finance infrastructure from scratch .

Initially, that means personally taking ownership of monthly management accounts , establishing a robust month-end process and improving P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting. You will also introduce better cash and working-capital forecasting, budgeting, project accounting, WIP and margin reporting, alongside appropriate financial controls.

We are looking for someone who is commercial but very hands-on - an experienced FD or Head of Finance, or potentially a strong Financial Controller ready to make their first FD move. The key is having actually built or materially improved a finance function , rather than simply inherited one.

It is a rare chance to come into an entrepreneurial business, create the finance function properly and ultimately become a genuine partner to the MD and Board.

Relevant backgrounds could include: project-led manufacturing, engineering, construction, fit-out, events or production.
