3D Design Engineer

We are seeking a Design Engineer with a proven track record in construction design and a deep understanding of materials and processes. This role involves working closely with our Creatives, Project Management, and Fabrication teams to transform conceptual designs into detailed manufacturing drawings.
Day-to-day of the role:

Interpret concept designs and sketches provided by clients, breaking elements down to produce fully resolved designs.

Provide 2D technical drawings and 3D CAD models to both our in-house construction team and outsourced contractors.

Produce designs compliant with health and safety and CDM regulations.

Collaborate closely with the in-house build team to produce designs that adhere to project budget, timescales, and aesthetics.

Prepare presentations for client approval and support manufacture and installation literature as required.

Undertake site surveys and attend site installations in the UK and abroad when necessary.

Liaise closely with structural engineers and other specialist contractors as necessary.

Source relevant parts, components, and specialist materials while researching new processes.

Maintain a drawings system on file and update when required.

Assist with quotations, providing estimates for design time and materials.

Produce project bill of quantities for costing/ordering.

Drive innovative and cost-effective solutions into the design.

Attend internal and external project meetings.

Assist Project Management with progress and monthly valuations related to design.
Required Skills & Qualifications:

Design or Engineering degree or equivalent qualification, demonstrated through a CV and portfolio.

Extensive knowledge of construction processes and experience working alongside a workshop team.

Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD).

Familiarity with MS Office & SharePoint.

Skills in Adobe CS, Corel, or other graphics packages are a bonus.

Aesthetic sensibility, creative flair, and a proactive, flexible 'can-do' attitude.

Ability to work with minimal supervision and interact with various stakeholders.

Relevant knowledge and experience in cabinet making, CNC timber panels, metal fabrication, and more.
