We're actively recruiting for an experienced Fire Stopper/Passive Fire Protection Operative to join our clients team on a permanent basis.
Our client is a leading company in the fire protection industry, dedicated to ensuring the safety and compliance of buildings and structures.
Key Responsibilities:
Understand and follow the Scope of Works (SOW) issued by the PFP Manager for respective projects in an agreed timescale
Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times
Adhere to provided training and 3rd Party (BMTrada) scheme requirements as per Approved Persons directive at all times
Understand manufacturers' drawings and requirements per application.
Install passive fire protection systems including fire stopping, cavity barriers, and fire-rated partitions, in line with manufacturers' specifications
Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of passive fire protection systems to ensure they meet safety standards and regulations
Identify and report any deficiencies or issues with existing fire protection systems
Utilise own fire stopping experience to identify fire stopping methods to propose to the respective manager/alternate systems of install prior to application as required
Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and fire safety documentation
Work collaboratively with other team members and contractors to ensure effective and efficient fire protection installations
Adhere to health and safety regulations, legislation, and safe working practices
Highlight and report any safety concerns to management
Read, understand, and confirm agreeance to RAMS issued per project
Maintain a safe and tidy workspace at all times
Accurately collate and record data with IT systems to allow substantiation of installations in line with manufacturers' guidance/available testing
Maintain communication with management regarding the progress of works/project delivery
Liaise with the client site team daily (signing in, areas/ways of working/access/safety concerns, etc.)
Report stock levels (site/van/stores) notifying colleagues if running low in advance to better allow staged deliveries as required
Carry out daily pre-use checks for company vehicles, reporting any defects to the fleet manager on the app and in writing immediately prior to using the van
Maintain a clean and tidy van and drive safely, considering other road users and members of the public
Utilise business systems to record working hours for timesheet/payroll purposes
Carry out cross-departmental works in support of business needs when required
Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience in passive fire protection or a related field
NVQ Level 2 qualified in Passive Fire Protecion essential
Knowledge of fire safety regulations, standards, and best practices
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid CSCS card, IPAF, PASMA advantageous
Full UK driving license essential
The majority of works will be carried out within the West Midlands & Staffordshire. Occassional overnight stays may be required although this will not be on a regular basis.
